What can I say? I have
a lot of interests. Being a Parrot Head rates number 1 though. I am just starting to become
involved again after a 4 year hiatus. Boy does it feel good to be back!
I got the nickname Margarita Freda because one year before a Buffett concert (1995?) a few friends of mine and I were having our own pre-concert party. Someone got up to get a round and asked who wanted a Corona and who wanted a Margarita? Then he yelled: hey Freda! Margarita? that's when we realized it rhymes. It sort of stuck after then. And for the record I was drinking Corona's that day. Next is Travel. Often my travel involves places of historic importance. Ante-bellums? can't get enough of them. My favorite TV shows are King of the Hill, My Name is Earl, Married With Children, That 70s Show Survivor, Apprentice, and many others. When I was growing up some of my favorite TV shows were The Monkees, Little House on the Prairie, Love Boat, Hogan's Heroes, Soap - just to name a few. As for movies, I like some chick flicks, but I lean toward subjects which are based on a true story, historical fiction, historical fantasy, or movies based on historical fact - and even then I'm picky. When you're a histroy buff there is nothing more intolerable than a movie based on a historical fact and the director/writer/producer et al get it wrong or change parts of it to make it more "exciting" (albeit historically inaccurate). For example, Mel Gibson movies which suck (Braveheart was ok, but only ok). I really liked Rob Roy with Liam Neeson, Excaliber, and Timeline. But I hated Fox Files (I can name 4 things historically wrong or inaccuracte with the opening scene), The Patriot, and I absolutely refuse to see Apocolypse and the Jesus movie Mel did. Gone with the Wind sucks (does NOT do the Civil War any justice) and so does Tale of Two Cities (does NOT do the French Revolution any justice). I do manage to enjoy historial spoofs for entertainment purposes such as Yellow Beard and The Holy Grail. Now there is a new movie out, W (based on Bush the 43rd) but I'm not sure I'm ready to see that. I think it's too soon. He's not even out of office yet. Why can't Oliver Stone make a movie about the Clintons? They have enough controversy for a movie.
